Oxfordshire Cricket

Oxfordshire Cricket

Here at Sunwise® we are proud to announce we are now the official eyewear partner for Oxfordshire Cricket. Working alongside the Cricket board we will be helping educate all involved in the game of the dangers of harmful UVA and UVB rays. We feel it is important all cricketers learn of the dangers of leaving their eyes unprotected as well as the benefits of playing the game whilst wearing sunglasses.

The partnership between Sunwise® and Oxfordshire Cricket is an opportunity for the grass roots game of cricket to grow throughout the county. Not only will Oxfordshire cricket help spread the educational packs to the relevant audiences but will see them increase awareness for the Sunwise® brand. In return for every sale that comes out of this partnership, Sunwise® will help fund one of the many programmes that Oxfordshire Cricket has set up to improve the growth and development of cricket in Oxfordshire.

This new partnership consists of raising awareness about the Sunwise brand and the dangers of not having sufficient eyewear protection when out in the field or waiting to bat. This information has been formulated into a series of education packs aimed at each individual demographic involved in the game: Junior Cricketers, Coaches, Umpires and Scorers.

If you wish to show your support for this partnership as well as take advantage of Sunwise’s products at a discount then head on over to the Oxfordshire Cricket page on our store and use code OXONCB. With every purchase made using this code Sunwise will give Oxfordshire Cricket some money from the purchase towards funding for one of their many programmes throughout Oxfordshire.

Junior Cricketers

Junior Cricketers

Young cricketers are the heartbeat of the game, they are the next generation of players and exactly what we need to keep the game, we all love so much, going. It is also extremely important that young cricketers get the protection they need. Every parent is aware that their children are legally required to wear a helmet when batting and understand that their children should wear sun cream on sunny days. However, the vast majority of young cricketers do not wear sunglasses whilst playing the game even though their eyes are much more susceptible to harmful UVA and UVB rays.

Read more about the dangers young cricketers face from leaving their eyes unprotected and the easy ways they can be prevented by reading our Young cricketers Education Pack.

Coaches

Coaches

Whether they are coaching junior players or senior players, all cricket coaches have a huge role to play in the game. Spending hours on the sidelines during matches or running training sessions, coaches can leave their eyes unprotected for prolonged periods of time. All this time spent outdoors without adequate protection from the sun adds up and puts many coaches health at risk. With the help of sunglasses not only will they receive great protection but also be able to see the game and training sessions much more clearly. There are plenty of benefits of wearing eyewear whilst coaching, not just for protection purposes.

Read more about the dangers of not wearing sunglasses as a coach as well as the benefits it can bring to your game and training sessions by reading our Coaches Education Pack.

Umpires

Umpires

Umpires are the unsung heroes of the game, having to make hard decisions and being used as a scapegoat when the game isn’t going your way. But without umpires we would not be able to play the game that we love so much. Many umpires will be above the age of 40 meaning they have already accumulated a lot of damage from harmful UV rays, at this point in their life it is extremely important they do not further their eyesight. Not only will sunglasses help keep their eyes protected but can also improve the contrast of every aspect of the game, allowing them to make more informed decisions.

Read more about the cumulative affects of UV damage and how sunglasses can help improve their decision making skills by reading our Umpires Education Pack.

Scorers

Scorers

We all know how important a scorers job is, whether they are stationed indoors or outside it can often be hard for them to really see what is happening in the game. With scorers being stationed in one position for the duration of the game they can often leave themselves unprotected whilst under direct sunlight during peak times. With the help of sunglasses they can keep their eyes protected, prevent any damaging UV effects and be able to see the game in a clearer light. Making their job much easier and much more pleasant.

Read more about the peak UV radiation times, the effect they have and how it can be prevented by reading our Scorers Education Pack.
